First established by the Romans over 2050 years ago as Mosa Trajectum, the city of Maastricht had made a claim to being the oldest city in the Netherlands.

However...

after years of meticulous research it appeared that  Noviomagus, the city of Nijmegen, is the true oldest city. The logo of the ISMSC 2009 connects Maastricht with Nijmegen for more than one reason.
